Books ‘n’ Planes

So one of the only good things about air travel is that it gives you plenty of time to read. I’ve gotten myself from Vancouver to Halifax (Atlantic bookfair), and yet to come is Halifax to Hamilton (quick stopover for a friend’s wedding!), then Hamilton to Victoria (BC bookfair). Along the way, I’ve brought myself:

Break, The
by Vermette, Katherena (09/17/16)
9781487001117 | House of Anansi/Groundwood Books | UTP
Paperback | Price: $22.95

A beautifully written novel about a Metis family in Winnipeg. Chapters are told from women of different generations, and branches of this loving, but dysfunctional family. It’s wonderful, but a tough read.

They Found Him Dead
by Heyer, Georgette (11/01/09)
9781402217999 | Sourcebooks | RAI
Paperback | Price: $19.99

A perfect, cozy mystery. I’m obsessed with Georgette Heyer’s regencies, but somehow never picked up her mysteries? WHAT! They’re like a perfect cup of tea on a rainy day.

The Fortunes
by Davies, Peter Ho (09/06/16)
9780544263703 | Houghton Mifflin Harcourt | RAI
Cloth | Price: $38.00

This one was pitched to me as Cloud Atlas, about an Asian American family through the generations. SOLD!
