What I’m Reading

July 02, 2014 | by

Did you miss me? I’ve been rambling around the country in the service of books, so I haven’t had any time to
blog!

clearing the plains

I just started reading Clearing the Plains by James Daschuk. It’s from one of our newest publishers, the
University of Regina Press. The book has won a bunch of awards from the Canadian Historical Association. I’m
only about a chapter in, as my quality time in my comfy chair keeps getting interrupted when I have to jet
off across the country. I’m planning to put a big dent in the book this weekend, so I’ll make sure to let all
of you in BlogLand know how it goes.

Especially with the recent supreme court ruling on First Nation’s land claims, it’s a perfect time to learn
more about First Nations and Canadian history, so go find a copy!
