If you want a good wholesome story in a time when every other article in the news makes your heart drop a little further down into the depths of disappointment, here is a report that will warm you up from your head to your toes (or cool you down if you are still sizzling from the Canada Day heat).
Book Fairies: if you believe in them, they will exist. Or don’t believe in them, whatever. It doesn’t matter because they exist, regardless. They are people who acquire books and then hide them around their city or town with a ribbon and a tag that says “Free Book” so that any passerby can pick it up and take it home to read. Then, that person hides it for the next person to find and read.
Here’s a comic strip from a real-life Book Fairy, that demonstrates what it’s all about:
The Book Fairies have existed for about a year, and have a website (duh, what mythical creature of the new millennium doesn’t have a website?) that features their most famous fairy, Emma Watson, at work. Emma Watson, sigh, what a magnificent woman, ahem, fairy…wizard?
Anyway, if you want to be a Book Fairy all you have to do is follow the instructions in the comic strip, above. It’s that simple! Spread the love, pay it forward, be better, ask yourself WWEWD (What Would Emma Watson Do?) and take the time to recognize the good people and books in the world.
