“Comfort Food” for Your Body and Mind

We all have down days, whether caused by internal or external influences. Politics, family drama, work stress… it can all get to you. If you’re anything like me, that means an overwhelming urge to stay in bed and pretend the world doesn’t exist. Here are a few books I turn to when the world seems a little much. I suggest reading these with a cup of tea under a cozy comforter; just my personal recipe for a soothed soul.


Pure Self Help


A little on the nose, I know. But this little pocket book has some great suggestions and looks great on my bedside table!


If anyone knows about comfort food for the soul, it’s Ms. Winfrey.


Thinking Outside the Box


Sometimes what you really need to read is something without words. Sidewalk Flowers is sweet, heartwarming, and beautifully illustrated.


Richard Wagamese’s meditations help guide you to be still or shout your truth. It never fails to bring a tear to my eye or a smile to my face.


Sometimes You Just Need Comfort FOOD


Almost nothing makes me feel better than melted cheese…



The only thing better than cheese? Chocolate. By the time I’m finished baking (and eating) a tray of cookies, life usually looks a little sunnier.

So whether I’m feeding my soul through my mind or my belly, it’s usually a good book that I turn to first. Here’s to happiness!
