While chatting with a friend on the phone the last night I heard

incredible screeching over the line – yes it was a landline! Turns out a

peacock from Beacon Hill Park across the street has taken up residence

on the roof of the apartment. Peacocks make excellent guards.

But does one really want to be warned about that racoon breaching

the perimeter at 3:00 a.m?
