Our mission is to continue to be the best book and gift sales group in Canada and to provide all of our stakeholders with the most comprehensive and unsurpassed service in our industry.
In 2011 Kate Walker & Company changed their name to Ampersand Inc. The name “Ampersand” was chosen for a number of reasons: the “&” icon has been in most of the company’s previous names; the ampersand is a connector, and that is what we do – connect our clients with their retail and library partners; and it just looks great!
We have Account Managers working across the country with book retailers, libraries, museums, gift shops, specialty and wholesale customers. And with specialty, corporate and institutional sales being the fastest growing book markets in Canada, our sales team includes specialists who know what is needed and wanted in those markets.
We attend national, international and regional book fairs, provincial library conferences, museum shows and major gift shows. Showrooms in Richmond and Toronto are open by appointment and visits are encouraged.
We offer a wide variety of services to our publishers including thorough coverage of accounts through in-person appointments whenever possible, reporting from all territories, distribution of publicity and promotion information, implementation of marketing plans, and confidential marketing advice.
To our customers we bring information on new and backlist titles with expert advice regarding selections for their particular needs and interests. We keep customers informed of local and national author promotions, and report awards nominations and winners.
Our professional sales team endeavours to make bookselling in all markets worthwhile for everyone concerned and to foster good relations between each sector of the industry.
