Season’s greetings! December is one of my favourite times of year. Here in Vancouver it tends to be cold, dark, and wet (this year it’s coldER, dark, and snowy!), so we fight back with brightly coloured lights, cookies, and eggnog.
Every December, my partner and I host a really fun holiday party. I’m in charge of mulling the wine, and Peter is in charge of the eggnog. He starts six weeks out, aging it to perfection in mason jars in the back of the fridge.
I can’t give away ALL his secrets, but I do like the looks of the eggnog recipe in Esquire’s Drink Like a Man!
Now I will admit to being the kind of host who stocks up on crackers, cheese, and charcuterie so that I have more time to don my gay apparel (a glittery cocktail dress, of course!), but if you’re more ambitious, the recipes in Chowgirls Killer Party Food are well-worth it! Tasty food is always a good investment, plus your friends will be so impressed!
